Espejos / The mirrors
Sergio Mansilla Torres
The mirrors have lost all precision;
they don’t reflect more than shapes
foolish, crazy images in the background
They have lost the faces
and when we see ourselves in the mirrors
we hear only the wandering whistling of the night
that pierces the solitary eardrums.
And nobody shares, in reality
these confusions; dark secrets
that swallow the people
in glistening jaws.
The mirrors don’t talk. They stole
their light and for this reason each person
sees in themselves what they want;
each with their public sins
disguised with curious and vulgar pretexts.
